From average assistant, to Leader Assistant
I used to think I was an amazing assistant, but when my previous executive was fired because of mistakes he made in the midst of burnout, I started questioning everything.
Would a Leader Assistant have let burnout get the best of their executive? Maybe I was just an average assistant, after all? How could I avoid making the same mistakes going forward?
Turns out I was in the midst of heavy burnout as well – and had been for years – but it took that unexpected shock to the system for me to see it.
During that challenging season, my life was a mess of uncertainty and anxiety. But looking back now, I'm grateful for the shock that allowed me to step away from that job and take some time to figure out what to do with my life.
If my executive was never fired, I may have stayed on the burnout treadmill for many more years. I shudder to think about what could have happened to my health, my marriage, and my kids.
Average -> Leader
Once the dust settled on that experience, I had a renewed desire to lead myself, lead my future executive, and help other assistants do the same.
That year, I built my website, wrote my first blog post, started growing my LinkedIn network, and sold my first few coaching sessions.
I started exploring the difference between an average assistant and a Leader Assistant.
The seeds were planted for what would later sprout into The Leader Assistant brand –> the podcast, events, premium membership, book, workbook, and most recently, The Leader Assistant Academy.
Speaking of the Academy, I've never been more excited about a resource I've created, and here are a few of the main reasons...
First, the on-demand online course in the Academy dives into each chapter of The Leader Assistant book, includes the entirety of The Leader Assistant Workbook, but also includes a short video for each chapter of the material where I walk through a bit more of my journey of leveling up from an average assistant, to a Leader Assistant.
Second, enrollment in the Academy includes a 1:1 coaching session with yours truly. An honest and open conversation about whatever you're wrestling is always a learning experience for both parties!
Third, the AI Agent I call, "Ace" is truly an innovative bonus to the Academy. Ace is trained on the book, workbook, and more, and is ready to answer your questions and guide you to helpful resources 24/7.
Last by not least, the Academy newsletter is my favorite creative outlet right now. I'm currently working on 2 books and I'm using the Academy newsletter as an outlet to document the journey and work through the content of each project.
All this to say, the goal of everything I do – including The Leader Assistant Academy – is to help you move from average assistant, to game-changing Leader Assistant.
